Camping...Attempt #2 - Ink's Lake

Let's try this whole camping with a baby thing again...Hey! this time it worked!

We went to a lake called Ink's Lake which is about 2 hours from San Antonio.  The great thing about Texas is that there is sooo much to do outside.  There are hundreds of state parks and lakes.  Really if you are into the outdoors (and heat), Texas is the place to be.  Jer an I are really looking forward to a little bit older baby and a little bit cooler weather so we can really start to check out some of the cool places nearby.

We went with out friends the Ashmore's again...pictured below...
We tried the water out for Zac...but he was not having it...

But at least he looked the part with his hat, swim trunks and swim shirt....awesome.

The water was just a little to cold for our little boy that LOVES the heat.  When we are camping he is in heaven being outside in the heat all day (in the shade of course).  He absolutely loves to be warm.  Seeing that he didn't love the cold lake water, we are excited to see how he does in Grandpa's pool (which is kept so warm that you are probably sweating, you just can't tell because you are in the water...really it is just a giant hot tub...Zac is going to love it!).  Grandpa...we are coming this weekend...make sure that pool is steaming!

We did some boating and as you can see below...Zac was SUPER comfortable in his infant life vest...

Really...he could breath.  In fact, the life vest did an excellent job of holding the binky in his mouth.  As soon as we started moving, he passed out.  I really don't think he even realized he was on the boat.

As far as an update is concerned...our little boy is getting not so little.  Last trip to the doctor he weighed in at a whopping 11 lbs. 8 oz.  HUGE...growing like a weed.

He has gone from a really good baby to an incredibly fussing baby.  It started literally as soon as he hit one month.  He could put a pubescent 14 year old boy to shame with his gas.  I have tried to eliminate a lot of dairy from my diet to see if that helps, which is hard to tell if it is working because if he is not being held, he fusses.  Very needy...oh well, I guess that is children.  He still sleeps excellent at night so that keeps me pretty happy.

We started putting him in his bumbo the other day.  He takes it like a champ.  He is not the best with head control yet, but he can sit in the seat for a good ten minutes before getting tired from keeping his head up.

What a cute little guy. And the fussiness is only a stage. It will pass.
Have fun exploring...sounds really fun!

Steele was the same way, but it hit at 5 weeks, if you want to chat tips email me, I know you guys can figure it out so I don't want to leave the super long message about what worked with Steele unless you want to chat. My one advice is Infants Mylicon, you can give it to him just before he eats and it does a work of good for the gas. I would love to see you if you have a moment when you are here. I'll come to you.

That is an awesome spit bubble in the last photo! Talk about talent! Oh, is he ever getting cute! We were so sad that we couldn't make it to Utah when you visited. I had my parents coming into town on the Thursday and they didn't leave until Monday. Make sure to let us know when you will be there again. We REALLY want to see you guys!
