I Don't See It!!!

So as most people know...I love American Idol! Never miss an episode (thank you DVR). So judge me, I know you want to.

Anywho...so this season, there is an 18-year old "boy" who is channeling Whitney Houston (the current on crack version) and for some reason the judges think he is really good. Are you kidding me!!! This is not good....it is down right ridiculous, annoying, obnoxious, and cheesy.

And venting complete.

I am a horrible example of a Utahn.

I hate winter.
I especially hate snow!
I don't snow ski or snow board.
I don't even like water skiing (don't even get me started on wakeboarding).
I have never been to Cove Fort or Goblin Valley.
I have never been to the Great Salt Lake.
I have never hiked the "Y" or Mount Timp.
I dislike crafts.
I dropped out of the 4H club after a few activities
I have never read the Work and the Glory books
I have never in my life had the "Utah Poof"
I don't even really care for Jello
I have no clue how to make funeral potatoes.
I have been hunting once, but I just walked around carrying a gun for a few hours, didn't see a thing...never been so bored in my life.
I don't really care for rootbeer and I hate Sprite (Give me caffeine baby)

I am probably forgetting other things typical to Utahns, and if I am, I probably hate them too.

On snowy days like this my only way to cope is to crank up the space heater, blast it on my face, and think of what I feel is my natural habitat...the beach. Ahhh, much better...suddenly I have this sense of belonging.

It was an itsy bitsy, teeny weeny, ummm brown polka dot bikini?

So today I received my new swimsuit for 2008.

Love it!! Sorry there are no pictures of me in it. I may have purchased it from Victoria's Secret but I am not going to pose like the models. Not that I don't have the body for it (Ha! not even close!!!)

My Rude Awakening

So I am completely useless when it comes to studying at home. I get distracted by pretty much everything. Even when I have absolutely nothing to do at home, a spot on the wall is enough to distract me from studying.

Anyway, for one of my classes I have to write a paper every week. Last week wasn't too bad because I just had to summarize an article. But this week, I actually have to come up with my own material. My next paper is due on thursday morning, and I wanted to get it done and out of the way so I can start on another paper for another class. So yesterday I thought would be a good day to just bust it out, unfortunately things didn't quite go as planned.

So here is the chain of events:

10:30 am - read supporting information for paper
10:32 am - got bored, starting talk to Shannon (I took her to the doctor)
10:35 am - tried to decide whether an older looking woman in the doctor's office was the mother, grandma, or nanny to the child she had (I think we finally decided on mother, but she could have easily been the grandma)
10:45 am - tried to finish reading supporting documentation for paper
10:46 am - fell asleep
10:50 am - tried to read something else school related
10:51 am - became entertained by a conversation between a patient and the nurse about her insurance not covering that doctor anymore and also the following phone conversation between her and her "partner" talking about how all insurance companies want to do is screw you over.

4:00 pm - decided to go to library so I could really focus on getting the paper written (sans computer so I wouldn't get distracted by it)
4:15 pm - reread supporting documentation, took notes
4:30 pm - stared at blank sheet of paper trying to figure out what to write
5:00 pm - still staring at blank sheet of paper
5:30 pm - Eureka! some ideas!
6:00 pm - a three sentence opening paragraph written
7:00 pm - one additional paragraph written (only 3 more to go)

3 HOURS TO WRITE 2 PARAGRAPHS!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!

So my rude awakening was that over the past 5 years of being out of school...I have lost my ability to B.S. my way through a paper, probably because with my jobs I have had to write documents people actually read and make decisions based upon.

My B.S-ing ability was one of my strengths. Lets just hope with some practice I can get my skills back up to par.

I also think I am either a little dyslexic or my brain just thinks too fast for my fingers. I have found everynow and then when I am writing (either on paper or computer) I'll start writing a word backwards...egnarts...I mean strange.
