So I am completely useless when it comes to studying at home. I get distracted by pretty much everything. Even when I have absolutely nothing to do at home, a spot on the wall is enough to distract me from studying.
Anyway, for one of my classes I have to write a paper every week. Last week wasn't too bad because I just had to summarize an article. But this week, I actually have to come up with my own material. My next paper is due on thursday morning, and I wanted to get it done and out of the way so I can start on another paper for another class. So yesterday I thought would be a good day to just bust it out, unfortunately things didn't quite go as planned.
So here is the chain of events:
10:30 am - read supporting information for paper
10:32 am - got bored, starting talk to Shannon (I took her to the doctor)
10:35 am - tried to decide whether an older looking woman in the doctor's office was the mother, grandma, or nanny to the child she had (I think we finally decided on mother, but she could have easily been the grandma)
10:45 am - tried to finish reading supporting documentation for paper
10:46 am - fell asleep
10:50 am - tried to read something else school related
10:51 am - became entertained by a conversation between a patient and the nurse about her insurance not covering that doctor anymore and also the following phone conversation between her and her "partner" talking about how all insurance companies want to do is screw you over.
4:00 pm - decided to go to library so I could really focus on getting the paper written (sans computer so I wouldn't get distracted by it)
4:15 pm - reread supporting documentation, took notes
4:30 pm - stared at blank sheet of paper trying to figure out what to write
5:00 pm - still staring at blank sheet of paper
5:30 pm - Eureka! some ideas!
6:00 pm - a three sentence opening paragraph written
7:00 pm - one additional paragraph written (only 3 more to go)
3 HOURS TO WRITE 2 PARAGRAPHS!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!
So my rude awakening was that over the past 5 years of being out of school...I have lost my ability to B.S. my way through a paper, probably because with my jobs I have had to write documents people actually read and make decisions based upon.
My B.S-ing ability was one of my strengths. Lets just hope with some practice I can get my skills back up to par.
I also think I am either a little dyslexic or my brain just thinks too fast for my fingers. I have found everynow and then when I am writing (either on paper or computer) I'll start writing a word backwards...egnarts...I mean strange.

Oh hon, you'll get right back into soon. I'd help you if I could but knowing me you'd get your paper back with a big fat red "F". I am no good at writing papers. So I'll just cheer you on from the sidelines.
Oh, I TAGGED you so go to my blog and get the details.
I just know it took you at LEAST 2 minutes to spell 'strange' backwards.... And then you had to double-check it so your friends wouldn't make fun of you. HAHAHA!
