"Back to school, back to school, to prove to dad that I'm no fool" -Billy Madison-

So as most of you know, I have decided to go back to school to get my Masters of Business Administration aka MBA (which a lot of the time when you first say it to someone they hear "NBA" and get confused and think I am going back to be a basketball star, clearly they haven't seen any of my attempts to play sports).

Anywho, last week was my first week and I was a little nervous considering I haven't been to school in 5 years. But as Jude (mother-in-law) said, it is like riding a bike, once you learn you never forget. Well all I can say about that analogy is after not riding a bike for several years you definitely aren't as good at it. Example, I used to be able to ride my dad's old ten-speed (you know the ones with the tires that are like an inch wide) without using my hands, and man I was good at it, I could turn corners and everything. Well I used to be really good at school too!

So the first class is what I expected, mostly just an introduction to the course, not too bad. The next class we jumped right into the lesson material, and the last class I didn't even realize the professor had started his lecture until he was like 30 minutes into it (nice one Ames!).
So here I was thinking that the first week wouldn't be too strenuous, but I was entirely wrong. I am only taking 6 credits and I already have 2 papers to write, 100 pages to read, and a case analysis in which my analysis will have to be written out for class, even if I don't have to turn it in. Oh and did I mention that the case study I read was like 30 pages (single spaced). OH MY BRAIN HURTS ALREADY!

I guess I am going for graduate degree, I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but I was hoping the first week would at least ease me into it....OH NO!! maybe that was me being eased into it and it is just going to get worse!

Amy, this is Maile. I found your blog through Naomi's. I've noticed the same thing about grad school by watching Peter in his MBA. What happened to the good old days of coloring for the first few days. =) They just jump right in. But at least it makes me feel like he's getting what he paid for, and will be paying for for a while yet to come.
